Personnel promotions, appointments, awards
Jerzy Lepecki, Brazil, will retire as CIGRE president and John Banks, UK, will retire as treasurer at the 1996 Paris meeting. A new administrative council will be elected at the same meeting. Executive Committee suggestions are: Michel Chamia, Sweden, president; Andre Merlin, France, Technical Committee chairman; and Professor Y. Sekine, Japan, treasurer. Yves Porcheron, CIGRE secretary general will retire in 1996 and Yves Thomas of Electricite de France will be his successor.
Karl G. Van Orsdol has been named senior manager, Internal Relations for the Electric Power Research Institute, which is based in the United States of America.
Deryk King has been appointed managing director of PowerGen plc, the UK power generation company. Sir Colin Southgate will stand down as chairman at the end of this term, at PowerGen`s annual general meeting in July. He will be succeeded by Ed Walis, who will retain responsibility for strategy and external relations.
Wayne C. Thompson has been named managing director of Coastal Corp.`s recently established business-development office in Australia.
Harvey Parker has been appointed CEO for the recently privatized United Energy in Melbourne, Australia.
Elsag Bailey Process Automation, the Netherlands, has announced four key assignments in its Engineering and Research & Development group. They are: Richard Allenson, Systems Development Engineering director; Thomas Fink, Consoles and Tools Development Engineering director; Edward Mallinak, senior system architect; and Anne Poorman, Applications Product Development Engineering director.
Dr. David G. McAlees has been appointed executive director of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Division of the Siemens Power Generation group. He will retain his position as senior vice president and general manager of Siemens Power Corp.`s Nuclear Division, headquartered in the United States of America.
Charles K. Dempster has been elected chairman and CEO of UtiliCorp U.K. Inc., a subsidiary of USA-based UtiliCorp United.
