Pakistan’s government has said it is considering taking India to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in a dispute over the 45 MW Nimoo-Buzgo Hydropower project being built on the Indus River.
Pakistan claims India has breached agreements from previous bilateral meetings of the Indus River Commission over pondage level, spillways, and silt flushing outlets.
The Nimoo-Buzgo power project in Jammu and Kashmir, where territory is disputed between Pakistan and India, is scheduled to operate from November 2011.
But sources in the Pakistan government say it plans to give India its approval for the planned 44 MW Chutak hydropower project in the same state.
