Mexican and Indian projects for MAN B&W
The Spanish contracting company, Abengoa S.A., has received an order based on the build, lease and transfer principal, from Comisión Federal de Electricidad for a 40 MW two-stroke diesel power plant at Puerto San Carlos in Baja California Sur in Mexico.
The plant will be based on a 12K90MC-S engine of MAN B&W design optimized to 42 MW with an engine efficiency above 50 per cent. It will fulfill local environmental limits with regard to NOx and SOx emissions as well as particulate matter.
The fuel used will be a residual from a local refinery with a viscosity of 1200 cSt at 50ºC. The fuel will be used without any blending.
The electromechanical package consisting of generators and engines will be supplied by, respectively, ABB Generacion S.A. in Spain, and MAN B&W Diesel A/S licensee, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd.
Hyundai Heavy Industries has just commissioned a 200 MW plant at Chennai, India, incorporating four engines of the same type as specified for this Mexican project.
