Mauritius orders another engine for Fort George

The Central Electricity Board (CEB) in Mauritius have chosen a third MAN B&W 9K80MC-S two-stroke low speed engine for its power plant in Fort George to supply a further 30 MW of power.

When the plant was built in 1996 it was equipped with one of these engines. In 1997 the CEB ordered another. Now it has placed an order for its third MAN Diesel to facilitate further expansion.

The engine will be produced by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea, whose Engine Manufacturing Division is very experienced in producing MAN B&W Diesel two-stroke engines under license.

This order brings the total of MAN B &W Diesels two-stroke power plant engines, in use or on order, to close to 2000 MW world-wide.
