Indonesia:

The Asian Development Bank has approved two loans totalling $400m for a power sector restructuring programme in Indonesia. A total of $380m will go to support the government reform programme and $20m will help the country set up a competitive electricity market. State utility PLN is suffering heavy losses and reforms are needed to ensure secure operation of the power system. Total cost of the restructuring is estimated at $1bn to $1.5bn for 1999.
