GE building Kuvvat plant

General Electric Energji Sistemleri Istanbul, a subsidiary of General Electric Co., has announced a contract to build a 123-MW power plant in Turkmenistan for (US)$48 million. The gas turbine plant will be operated by Turkmenistan`s state Kuvvat power agency and will be the first power project to be built in Central Asia by a foreign company, a GE spokesman said. Construction is expected to be complete near the end of 1996.
