In a move aimed at expanding its distributed energy management offering, South Korea‘s Doosan has acquired US-based 1Energy Systems, makers of a software platform for energy storage systems which integrates distributed resources automatically into grid networks.
1Energy will now be renamed Doosan GridTech and will function as a business unit of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (DHIC). The new offering will feature advanced software controls for both larger grids and microgrids, Doosan said.
David Kaplan, 1Energy’s CEO and new COO of Doosan GridTech, said: ‘Wind, solar power and energy storage are changing how the grid operates. Intermittent and distributed sources of both energy demand and generation require a dynamic, digital grid, where power flows both ways ” to and from the end customer. 1Energy was founded to solve these problems, and becoming part of Doosan helps us further our mission.’
Doosan said the acquisition ‘furthers Doosan’s expansion into energy storage systems solutions for operating increasingly digital, distributed electric grids’.à‚
