Consortium pens 450 MW Java deal

An international consortium has signed a 30-year power purchase agreement with PT PLN, the state-owned utility of Indonesia, to build, own and operate a 450 MW, coal-fired plant near Cilacap on the island of Java, Indonesia. Construction is expected to begin in late 1997 and completed in late 2000. Total cost is estimated at (US)$700 million. The consortium includes Duke Energy Corp., US; Mitsubishi Corp., Tokyo; PT Bimantara Citra, Indonesia; and PT Kanugrahan Kartika Perkasa, Indonesia.
