Chubu Electric to support three power stations in the East

NAGOYA, Japan, Sept. 7, 2000 (Jiji Press) à‚– Chubu Electric Power Co. said Thursday it will provide technological support to three thermal power generation plants abroad.

The three plants are in North Bangkok of Thailand, Pridneprovskaya of Ukraine, and Muara Karang of Indonesia, the company said.

Chubu Electric Power will give its technological and operational know-how in modernizing and refurbishing these plants, it said.

The contracts on the technological assistance were concluded with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization, or NEDO, an affiliate of Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry, the company said.

In fiscal 1999 ended last March, the company gave technological aid to four overseas plants in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Bulgaria and Vietnam under similar contracts with NEDO.

In the current fiscal year, the company expects to land some more deals with NEDO on technological aid, but it will make efforts to develop consulting projects on its own through its overseas information collection, it said.
