CIGRE (International Conference on Large High-Voltage Electric Systems) India and the Central Board of Irrigation and Power have issued a call for papers for the International Conference and Regional Meeting on Power Quality–Assessment of Impact, to be held Sept. 10 and 11, 1997, in New Delhi, India. Full-length papers written in English are invited on power quality, harmonics and voltage quality. Case studies on these topics are also welcome. The deadline for papers is May 31, 1997. The World Council of Power Utilities has issued a call for papers for its International Conference, to be held Feb. 12-14, 1997, at the Taj Palace International in New Delhi, India. Theme for the conference is “Green Power–The Need of the 21st Century.” Abstracts of less than 300 words, written in English, are invited on policy alternatives for power development in developed and developing countries; electrical power and energy requirements for a better tomorrow; electric power generation options for clean-coal technologies; quality of power for transmission, distribution and power systems; improved plant or system operation through better management; environmental impact assessment; and financing capacity expansion programs. Submission deadline is Aug. 31, 1996. A call for papers has been issued for the 22nd International Technical Conference on Coal Utilization & Fuel Systems, to be held March 17-20, 1997, in Clearwater, Fla., US. The conference is presented by the Coal & Slurry Technology Association and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers` Fuels & Combustion Technologies Division in cooperation with the US Department of Energy`s Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center. Abstracts of 400 to 500 words are due by Sept. 27, 1996. Preferred topics include: benefication, preparation and utilization of coal-based fuels; coal fines; coal/waste co-firing; environmental aspects of coal utilization; orimulsion; pipeline delivery of solid materials; retrofit or repowering of coal-fired plants; and utility perspectives on use of coal-based fuels. The International Association for Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology is seeking papers for its 14th International Conference, to be held Aug. 17-22, 1997, in Lyon, France. Abstracts should include new or original experimental data, new theoretical or computational methods, analysis of previously unpublished data, novel applications of known methods, engineering applications of licensing significance, or innovative technologies and assessment methodologies.
