French utility Alstom (EuronextALO) and Druk Green Power have formed a joint venture (JV) to set up a hydropower service centre in Bhutan, Asia.

The JV will establish the service centre to provide repair services for hydro runners and other underwater parts of hydropower plants.


The partnership will also support investment and employment in the Bhutanese Hydro market.

Alstom India Thermal and Renewable Power vice president Francois Carpentier said the new Service Centre is a key element in the company’s growth plans in the region and demonstrates its commitment to serve Bhutan Hydro market and its customers in the region.
