Grid-parity is the projected point at which solar power produces energy at the same cost as fossil fuel energy on the grid. Grid-parity is often erroneously considered a single date. In reality, grid-parity will be achieved incrementally on a global scale, like a “wave” that breaks across electric power markets over time. Most believe that grid-parity will accelerate PV market growth. However, this is only the front-page news.  In reality, grid-parity is one of a host of inter-related factors impacting the industry. For the PV industry to achieve long-term, sustainable growth, it is essential to understand these driving forces and customize strategies accordingly.
