GE reports milestones in Asian power projects

GE Industrial & Power Systems Asia has reached milestones in delivery and commercial start-up for several significant Asian projects including the 2,500-MW Black Point plant in Hong Kong, Tokyo Electric Power Co.`s Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) plant, the Tokyo Electric Yokohama advanced combined-cycle plant and the Port Dickson Independent Power Project in Malaysia.

GE wins contract for independent Turkish plant

GE Power Systems won a (US)$30.5 million contract from Colakoglu Metalurji A.S., Instanbul, Turkey, to provide turnkey plant engineering, design and power generation equipment and services for the first independent combined-cycle power plant in Turkey.

Gem filter banks

The GEM filter banks provide power factor correction in harmonic rich environments. The filter banks reduce harmonic voltages on the power system and are available in fixed and switched at 480 V in kVAR sizes from 25 to 600. The banks utilize heavy-duty metallized GEM capacitors with UL recognized pressure sensitive interrupters and iron-core reactors tuned to the 4.7th harmonic.

Trust agreement clears way for project in Mexico

Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) of Mexico has signed a trust agreement with a four-company consortium, clearing the way to seek international financing for the Samalayuca II power plant project, which is expected to cost (US)$600 million.
