Upgrading older power plants can be more cost effective than new construction

ISAB project Under construction

Edison Mission Energy is constructing the ISAB Energy Project, valued at (US)$1.3 billion. The 512 MW independent power project is sited in Sicily, Italy. The project is being constructed by a consortium led by Snamprogetti and Foster Wheeler Italiana under a turnkey construction contract. Commercial operation is scheduled for November 1999. Electricity will be sold under a long-term power purchase agreement to the Italian state-owned utility.
