Honduran sugar mill Tres Valles has invested $6.3 million in the construction of two electricity substations and a transmission line as part of a public-private partnership with the state-owned utility.

The substations are advanced at 70 per cent and it is expected that the infrastructure will solve the electric overload affecting some areas of Tegucigalpa and El Paraiso.

The sugar mill is expected to provide 19 MW of power, with sugarcane bagasse (pictured) as its fuel.
