Siemens Energy is to supply key components to China Southern Power Grid Co. for two high-voltage direct-current transmission projects, Nuozhadu-Guangdong and Xiluodu-Guangdong for 250 million euros (US$365.5 million).
Nuozhadu-Guangdong will have a transmission capacity of 5000 MW at a DC voltage of 800 kV, while Xiluodu-Guangdong will have an overall capacity of 6400 MW at 500 kV. Commissioning of the systems is scheduled for 2013.
The transmission lines will carry electricity generated from a planned 12,600 MW hydroelectric power plant.
