RWE secures power line deal for Olympics

8 April, 2002 – RWE Solutions has won a €4.3m order to supply 400 kV lines bringing energy to the Greek Olympic Games venues.

The 400 kV line in Lavrion-Argiropolis (to the west of Athens) will supply the venues for the 2004 Olympic Games. Construction commences at the beginning of April this year and the expanded energy network is scheduled to be put into operation in February 2003.

In the Chalkidiki region, the 40-km line will close the supply loop between the towns of Nikita and Stagira. The contract covers the new construction of the 150 kV high-voltage line and the installation of the aerial cables.

In Florina Amindeo (northern Greece), RWE Solutions will handle the cable installation for a 26 km, 400 kV line. The expansion will connect the newly constructed gas power station in Florina to the public network.
