Global professional services consultancy Parsons Brinckerhoff has been appointed by the UK’s National Grid to provide power transmission services on a range of energy projects across England and Wales.
The deal is on a four-year front end engineering design (FEED) framework, which is part of National Grid’s £7bn investment plan from now until 2021 to upgrade and develop its electricity networks to address the UK’s growing energy needs.
Parsons Brinckerhoff has been assigned civil works for the underground cable system, substations, integrated substation security, tunnels and design assurance. This framework could be worth up to £10m over four years with appointed firms competing for work on a mini-tender basis.
Javid Khaliq, director of transmission at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff said: “The award represents our continued commitment to the UK transmission sector and to National Grid’s plans to upgrade and develop their electricity networks to connect people to the energy they need.”
