SWEP secures London heat exchanger order

Heat exchanger specialist SWEP has won the contract to supply compact brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs) to the 1SWEP District energy00 Bishopsgate project in the heart of the City of London.

Consultants Hilson Moran have designed the project, which will see 64 BPHEs supplied to the 40 storey tower (950,000 ft2) Brookfield Development building which will provide the best in class office and retail accommodation. The BPHEs will help ensure comfortable heating and cooling conditions for occupants and visitors.

SWEP will supply its B649 BPHE model, a gasket-free heat exchanger that can handle up to 10 MW. Third party performance testing to verify the heat transfer performance was carried out by the German company DMT GmbH & Co. KG, Plant & Product Assessment Division, with B649 performing well beyond minimum performance requirements.

Last year SWEP achieved AHRI (Air-conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute) certification for its product range, an essential requirement laid down by the retained consultation for the 100 Bishopsgate requirement.
