25 March, 2002 – Stafford,UK-based generator manufacturer Broadcrown, has won contracts worth in excess of £250000 to supply two generators to Transco, transporters of gas within the UK.

Broadcrown has developed and supplied two BCP1125S generators. The first to provide stand by power for the new transmission compression station at Nether Kellet in Lancashire and the second as part of upgrades to an existing station in Cambridge. This follows two previous specifications for Transco where Broadcrown generators have been supplied to sites at Churchover and Alrewas.

Powered by Stafford built, Perkins 4008TAG2 engines with Newage HCI 634K alternators, each gen-set has an output of 1125kVA. The generators are enclosed within acoustic containers which are situated externally at the site. The master control panels are both free standing, adjacent to the generator.

Based at gas compression sites the specification also demands a product to meet stringent health and safety regulations. With this in mind, these Broadcrown gen-sets include fire, heat and smoke detectors to alleviate potential danger.

Project Manager Frank Harrison said, “The specifications are typical of the flexibility and rapid service we offer when responding our customers needs. Meeting health and safety regulations were a key facet of the project with the close proximity of mains pitch pressure gas. Our power solutions are proven to be effective under these conditions.”

Separately, Broadcrown said it has supplied 26 of its products to help power the relief effort in Afghanistan.

Produced in Broadcrown’s Newtown factory the generator sets have been delivered to various locations throughout Afghanistan and will be used to provide both base load and emergency standby requirements.

The generators supplied are part of the company’s standard product range
comprising of units from 22kVA to 120kVA output. The generators are
currently being used in a variety of applications including the supply of
power to refugee camps and communication centres. The generators are
portable with and weatherproof and with sound attenuated canopies.
