Private investment management firm Actis is is set to develop electricity generation and transmission projects in Mexico, El Economista reports.

The company expects to increase its installed capacity tenfold in just five years.

Its first initiative is the Tamaulipas wind farm, operated by Zuma Energia, which will sell its power to Walmart supermarkets.

The station will start operation by the end of the year, producing 50 MW. It is estimated that it will reach 500 MW by 2020.

The company will invest $700m in the Latin American energy sector in the short term, the news report added.
