Vestas to supply Swedish paper giant

Vestas (OMX:à‚ VWS) is to provide 17 V112-3.0 MW turbines for a wind power project north of Stockholm, Sweden.

The client is paper manufacturer Holmen and the Vestas turbine will be used within the company’s 51 MW wind power plant for purposes of powering the company’s paper mill.

It is the first large-scale wind farm to be developed by the paper giant’s energy arm, Holmen Energy, which wholly or partly owns 21 hydro power stations across Sweden.

The Varsvik project is being jointly funded by Holmen Energy and Eurofideme 2, a renewable energy fund owned by French investment bank Natixis.

“It is very positive to see an increase of new entrants in the wind power industry and especially with actors representing Swedish basic industry,” said Vestas Northern Europe sales vice president Krister Poole Jàƒ¶nsson.

à‚ Vestas’ contract for the project includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the V112 wind power turbines.
