Plans by Uruguay’s government to promote the development of wind farms in the coming years might face delay due to a tightening in financing.

Fernando Schaich, head of renewable energy at SEG Ingenieria, said that “producing over 600 MW will be a success for Uruguay” considering the current financial problems, reports El País.

However Schaich called for optimism as foreign companies remained interested in investing in the country’s wind power sector.
