Siemens has announced its first contract to build a wind farm in Australia.

The Snowtown II facility, located outside Adelaide and costing an estimated $448m, will have a total capacity of 270 MW and power up to 180,000 homes

Siemens, which itself gave no details of the deal’s value, said the plantwill be operational by 2014.
