RWE Innogy has commissioned the $36m 16 MW Anzi wind farm, 1100 metres above sea level in the southern region of Basilicata, bringing its operating wind farms in Italy up to three.

Anzi was developed by RWE Innogy with its strategic partner in Italy, FRI-EL Green Power, and holds a majority interest of 51 per cent.

RWE Innogy aims for further expansion in Italy, said chief financial officer Hans Bünting.

“Our aim is not only to compose a portfolio along technology lines, but also geographically, for example in order to accommodate a wide range of weather conditions,” he said.l

“That’s why we intend to increase our capacity also in Italy still further, where our output with the commissioning of Anzi already comes to 67 megawatts.”
