Wind farm

Four new wind farms are expected to be opened in Peru by the beginning of 2014, adding an additional 232 MW of capacity to the country’s grid.

The 80 MW Cupisnique wind farm in La Libertad and the 30 MW Talara wind farm in Piura are both located on the north coast of Peru and owned by Wind Power SA. Both wind farms have Vestas V100 1.8 MW turbines and a hub height of 80 meters.

Additionally, a 32 MW Marcona wind farm located in Ica and owned by Spanish company Cobra is expected to come online in the beginning of 2014. Moreover, by the end of 2014, a 90 MW “Tres Hermanas” wind farm, also located in Ica and owned by Cobra, is expected to be operational.

Currently there are more than 2400 MW of wind projects under temporary concession for studies granted by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM).
