GDF Suez and its majority owner International Power have announced new power purchase agreements which have been secured to further progress in developing wind energy in Canada.

The locations involved will include two 99 MW wind farms in Ontario and another 99 MW wind development in British Columbia.

IPR-GDF Suez North America has secured 20-year power purchase agreements with the Ontario Power Authority for the wind projects. Each is estimated to cost approximately $302 m, with commissioning of both facilities expected in 2013.

“Our global expertise and skills in wind power enable the Group to strengthen and continue to grow its position in renewable energy,” said Gérard Mestrallet, chairman and CEO of GDF Suez.
