Mexico’s Tamaulipas state is preparing nine additional wind projects totaling 1526 MW, the head of the local energy agency, Jose Maria Leal Gutierrez, has announced.

Tamaulipas could become an important wind power producer, competing with the state of Oaxaca, Leal told participants at an energy forum.

Separately, Enel Green Power has started building its 129 MW Palo Alto wind project in the state of Jalisco.

And Acciona and the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission have signed a memorandum of understanding to work on electricity generation projects based on renewable energies in the country.
