Latin America, key market for Spain’s Gamesa

Latin America represents 15 per cent of the overall sales for Gamesa the wind turbine maker confirmed as it posted its earnings for 2011, highlighting the importance of this market for the Spanish firm.

The company posted sales for the year of over EUR3m ($3.7m), a 10 per cent rise from a year earlier.

It said this was a result “of the recovery in the manufacturer’s market, which grew 16 per cent to 2802 MW sold.”

According to the company, this increase was due to the commercial diversification strategy it implemented into new markets such as Latin America to offset a slump in its more traditional markets.
