28 June 2002 – Reclaimed land in Tokyo’s Koto Ward will become the site of a new wind power generation project under a new deal between Electric Power Development Co and Toyota Tsusho Corp. The companies have agreed to form an equally owned joint venture with an initial capitalisation of 10myen ($84 000) to run the project.

The 170 MW plant should be ready to start operations at the end of the current financial year after cumulative investments of about 330m yen, the companies said.

The facility is expected to generate about 2.5m kWh a year, enough to power 800 typical households, all of which will be sold to Tokyo Electric Power Co for the first 20 years of operation.
