Iberdrola consortium targets French wind farms

A consortium led by Spanish energy giant Iberdrola is bidding for two wind farm projects in France.

The wind farms off the Brittany and Atlantic coasts are expected to be commissioned in 2015 and form part of the French government’s plans to install up to 3 GW of offshore capacity by that date and 6 GW by 2020.

The other consortium members are French companies Areva, Technip, Neoen Marine and Eole Res, with Iberdrola leading the bid from its global offshore wind headquarters in Glasgow.

Iberdrola believes the sites at Càƒ´te d’Armor and Saint-Nazaire are among the best sites in the world for offshore wind projects.
