EDP Renovaveis enters Mexico’s wind market

EDP Renovaveis (EDPR) is set to enter Mexico’s lucrative wind power market after signing a supply agreement with local mining company Industrias Penoles to power power its mining facilities via a 180 MW wind farm.

In a press release, EDPR confirmed that it expects the wind farm to be operational by 2016.

The wind farm will be located in the state of Coahuila, in the north of Mexico, which is well-known for its wind resources.

According to EDPR, Mexico meets its required criteria for investment and potential future growth because of its attractive renewable resources and low-risk profile for achieving competitive energy costs with long-term stability.
