Brazilian company CPFL Renovaveis has finalized the purchase of local wind developer, Rosa dos Ventos Geracao e Comercializacao de Energia for $46m, reports Reuters.

The deal includes a payment of $17.3m to Rosa dos Ventos’ previous owner Martifer Renovaveis Geracao de Energia e Participacoes.

Rosa dos Ventos operates two wind farms – the 10.5 MW Canoa Quebrada and 3.2 MW Lagoa do Mato, located on the state of Ceara, in the north of Brazil.

The farms have their output contracted with the federal power utility Eletrobras under the government’s Proinfa programme, designed to stimulate investment in alternative energy sources.
