Construction of Vestas-owned Chilean wind farm begins

The Danish wind turbine major Vestas has started the construction of a fully-owned 100 MW wind project in Chile, utilizing its 2 MW turbine platform.

The Talinay Oriente wind farm, which is said to be the largest wind power plant in Chile, will be located in the northern province of Limari, media reports have confirmed.

Vestas acquired full ownership of Talinay Oriente from a local developer.

The Talinay Oriente project is expected to be finalized in the first quarter next year, and once in operation will almost double Chile’s wind-power capacity.
