Alstom wins its first wind contract in Mexico

French power engineering company Alstomà‚ (Euronext:à‚ ALO)à‚  is to supply and commission 34 wind turbines for a farm being built by Italy’s Enel Green Power (EGP) in the Mexican state of Oaxaca.

The project, awarded to EGP by the Federal Electricity Commission under the ‘external energy producer’ scheme, is the first wind power project in Mexico for Alstom.

The Sureste I, Stage II wind farm, which will be fully operational at the end of 2014, will generate more than 350 GWh a year.

The wind farm will be equipped with 3 MW turbines from Alstom’s ECO 100 turbine platform.
