Colombia’s Mining and Energy Planning Unit (Upme), an entity that belongs to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, has received three projects that add over 450 MW of installed capacity.

The Portafolio newspaper said the approval of the nation’s renewable energy law in March 2014 has encouraged projects based on alternative energy.

The three wind farms are Carrizal (195 MW), Casa Eléctrica (180 MW) and Irraipa (99 MW).They will be located on the La Guajira peninsula and will be developed by Jemeiwaa Ka’i SAS.
