Rame Energy plc has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Seawind Holdings SpA has received an order from Compania Barrick Chile Generación Limitada for the design, supply and installation of new wind monitoring equipment at Barrick’s 20 MW Punta Colorada wind farm in Chile.

Including the installation of an 80-metre high lattice mast (installation pictured), instrumentation, a solar panel and a data logger, the project for the Barrick Gold Corporation unit will provide verification data for six of the 10 turbines that comprise the wind farm, originally developed by Rame.  This contract follows Rame’s recent refurbishment of one of Barrick’s existing 50 metre tall monitoring masts and the provision of engineering services at Punta Colorada.

Tim Adams, Rame CEO, commented: ‘We continue to see opportunities, as demonstrated in our recent announcement on Cerro Bayo, where the intelligent use of renewable energy can help address the power pricing and availability issues faced by many industrial consumers  in the region’.
