Welspun Energy is to invest $1bn to develop two wind power generation projects in India.
The projects are set for the state of Karnataka by 2016 and will generate 100 MW and 750 MW of wind power respectively.
Energy Business Review says the state is generating about 6.7 per cent of the country’s overall electricity and according to Karnataka Udyog Mitra, a state organization, the state offers a potential of 3500 MW of wind power and 10000MW of solar power projects.
Welspun is working to develop a cumulative target of 1.7GW of wind and solar energy projects, which will serve as many as nine million households in India.
