More than half of the output from a 200 MW US wind project to be built in Comanche County, Texas, US is to be sold to retail chain Wal-Mart under a 10-year power purchase deal.
Pattern Energy Group LP has acquired the Logan’s Gap wind project from Pioneer Green Energy, which as the developer of the project executed the PPA with Wal-Mart for approximately 60% of the project’s expected production.
Logan’s Gap will connect to Oncor’s 138 kV ComancheࢀZephyr line, which crosses the project site and supplies power to the DallasࢀFort Worth area.
Pattern expects to arrange financing for and start full construction of the project in the fourth quarter of 2014 with completion due in late 2015.
Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Development, commented: ‘America’s leading corporations are increasingly interested in wind energy, recognizing that as the price of wind power continues to decline, it is both good for the environment and good for business.’
