South Kyle wind farm in Ayrshire would comprise 50 turbines and cost more than à‚£190m ($294m).
The planning application will be considered by the Scottish government’s Energy Consents Unit and if approved, Vattenfall expects construction to start 2016 with first power generation set for 2018.
Piers Guy, Vattenfall’s UK onshore wind development director, said the wind farm would “make a substantial contribution to the environment and also have a significant positive impact on both the local and national economy“.
“At the peak of construction activity, if the proposal is approved, 79 people will be working on site. It is our intention to maximise the potential of local people. It will cost more than à‚£190mn to build South Kyle Wind Farm and the potential jobs boost that comes with it highlights the importance of the onshore wind sector to the Scottish economy.”
