Uruguay to tender for biomass power project

UTE, Uruguay’s state-owned electric power company, is to put out to tender the construction of a biomass plant that will produce a minimum of 20 MW and a maximum of 60 MW.

Uruguayan daily paper El País reports that the winning firm must commit to supply power for the 20-year contract term. The supply will only be stopped during maintenance periods, which will not surpass 10 per cent of the year’s overall hours.

UTE will only accept bids from firms whose investment reaches at least 30 per cent of home investment.
