Uruguay’s first large-scale solar PV plant completed

Multinational firm FRV has announced the completion of construction work at the 64 MW La Jacinta solar photovoltaic (PV) plant.

Situated on 150 ha, the plant is considered “the first large-scale solar power plant in the country and one of the largest photovoltaic projects in Latin America.”

La Jacinta benefits from the first power purchase agreement (PPA) signed with state-owned Uruguayan National Administration of Power Plants and Electrical Transmissions, which will use 100 per cent of the plant’s power.

The plant is expected to produce 102.7 MWh per year.
