The agency’s calculations found that wind power generation in Germany jumped to 86 TWh in 2015 from 57.3 TWh a year ago helping the country reach 30 per cent share of power production.

SeeNews reports that Agora’s stats show wind power generation increased year on year from 9.1 per cent in 2014 to 13.3 per cent last year.

Onshore wind farms produced 77.9 TWh, up by 39 per cent year-on-year, while offshore generation surged nearly fivefold to 8.1 TWh.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) power output, meanwhile, increased by 2.4 TWh to 38.5 TWh.

Overall, renewables met 32.5 per cent of Germany’s power needs last year, up by more than 5 percentage points on 2014.
