Four Sarawak-based companies have been listed by AmResearch as “excellent proxies” to the deep development potential of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).

AmResearch named the four companies as Sarawak Cable (SCB), Hock Seng Lee, Naim Holdings, and Press Metal.

AmResearch said that a key theme projected by the four companies was that Sarawak is at the nascent stages of an infrastructure boom. It highlighted several key power-related projects that could gain prominence in the near future.

Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) is proposing five more hydropower plants after Bakun and Murum, and two coal-fired plants to meet its targeted 7000 MW capacity by 2020.

SCB is part of a consortium pre-qualified for the proposed 500 kV transmission line linking Bunut to Kuching. The $800m project is due for completion by the end of 2014.

It is also believed that the project will be expanded to include over 100 new substations to handle Sarawak’s increasing power loads.
