Indian wind turbine manufacture giant, Suzlon Energy Limited is planning to construct a A$1.3bn ($1.4bn) wind farm in South Australia, according to the state government.

The 600 MW project would be able to power more than 200 000 homes, said Mike Rann, premier of the Australian state. The 180-turbine wind farm on the Yorke Peninsula is said to be completed by the end of 2015.

The proposed wind farm would help Australia’s 2020 target of generating 20 per cent of its electricity from renewable energy.
