Nordex in $68m wind turbine expansion

German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex is to spend €50m ($68m) on developing its rotor blades betwNordex wind turbineeen now and 2016.

The company announced yesterday that it plans to build on last year’s growth of 33 per cent by ploughing the money into series production of modern, large-dimensioned rotor blades.

Half of the investment will be used to expand and modernise its plant in Rostock while the other half will be channelled international production facilities ” some 80 per cent of all turbines installed by Nordex are outside Germany.

Nordex chief executive Jurgen Zeschky told a press conference yesterday: “The rotor is the motor. We will expand our rotor blade plant in Rostock to become the lead factory.”
