Nordex in 252 MW deal for two South Africa windfarms

German windpower group Nordex has clinched orders for 80 turbines for two windfarms in South Africa.

The Garob and Copperton projects in the Northern Cape will have a combined capacity of 252 MW. Garob will run on 46 turbines and is operated while Enel Green Power, while Copperton will have 34 turbines and is run by independent power producer Elawan. à‚

Both projects include delivery and installation as well as multi-year service contracts.

Earlier this month Nordex won an order for a 99 MW wind farm inà‚ Argentina.

The contractà‚ from AES Argentina Generaciàƒ³n is the delivery of 30 of its AW132/3300 turbines for the Energética wind farm in Buenos Aires.

Nordex will assemble the turbines and also build the 120-metre high concrete towers in Argentina. The Nordex wind turbine factory in Brazil

In July, Hamburg-headquartered Nordex won its biggest ever single contract: for 191 turbines at a 595 MW windfarm in Brazil.

It will supply and install the turbines at the Lagoa dos Ventos project for Enel Green Power.

The AW125 turbines have an installed capacity of 3.15 or 3.0 MW and will be mounted on top of 120-metre high concrete towers which Nordex will be producing at its own plant in Brazil.

The windfarm is located in the state of Piaui in the north of Brazil, which has strong wind conditions.

Nordex will start work on the windfarm from October next year. The deal with Enel Green Power brings the total capacity installed and under construction by Nordex in Brazil to 1.9 GW.
