Mexico to become regional wind leader in Latin America

According to Mexico’s Wind Power Association (Amdee), in the next two years the country will receive investments up to $1.4bn, and will reach an installed wind capacity of 2000 MW by 2015, El Economista reports.

Such investments could take Mexico to 12,000 MW on installed wind capacity by 202o, making it the leader in wind power production in Latin America.

Today Mexico has an installed capacity of 1370 MW of wind power, but its estimated potential is 71,000 MW.

At the moment, Mexico’s current total installed capacity is only 62,000 MW.
