The state of Baja California in Mexico is getting ready to invite bidders for a 50 MW wind power project in the coming months, with construction to start next year, says El Economista.

The La Rumorosa II project will supply power to schools, government offices and other institutions, and has the objective to save at least 10 per cent of the state’s electricity costs, according to David Munoz, director general of the Comision Estatal de Energia (CEE).

The CEE is the state-owned energy body that supports renewable energy development in Baja California .

La Rumorosa I, a 10 MW operating wind farm, currently supplies 80 per cent of the electricity for public lighting in Mexicali city.
