LM Wind Power has successfully completed installation and testing of a 66.5 metre wind turbine blade ordered by Hitachi for use offshore.

The blades have been tested on a wind turbine at Kashima Port Fukashiba wind power station in east Japan

Following the tests, the blades will now enable Hitachi to offer its 5.2 MW wind turbine with a rotor size of 136 metres.

LM Wind Power chief executive Marc de Jong said: “We are very pleased to support Hitachi in this offshore development. We look forward to seeing the blades generate clean, renewable energy in lower wind sites along the coast of Japan’s main island.”

The blades were produced in LM Wind Power’s manufacturing facility in Jiangyin, China.
